We recently had the pleasure of shooting the new Living Moon collection by Bamboo Pure, and I have to say, it’s rare that a product shoot feels this poetic.
Designed by Elora Hardy of IBUKU and handcrafted by the master artisans of Bamboo Pure, this collection is a love letter to bamboo and the intelligence of nature itself. The forms, the textures, the curves, everything feels rooted in something deeper than just aesthetics. Living Moon draws its soul from biomimicry, echoing the rhythms and shapes of the natural world, especially the ever-changing phases of the moon.
What struck me most during the shoot was how alive these pieces felt. Each curve, each joint, each silhouette had the softness of something organic, but also the precision of great design. They’re not trying to mimic nature in a literal sense, but rather, respond to it with reverence.
The New Moon Chair is a refined take on a classic, graceful and sculptural, yet designed for everyday comfort. It has that quiet presence you can’t quite put your finger on, the kind of piece that elevates a space without shouting for attention.
Then there’s the Orbit Chair, playful yet poised. It plays with circular forms, almost like a visual echo of the moon itself. The craftsmanship here is stunning. It transforms raw bamboo into something that feels lighthearted and deeply sophisticated all at once.
One of the most striking pieces in the collection is the Mushroom Lamp, designed by John Hardy. With a volcanic stone base and slender bamboo stalks reaching upward to delicate bamboo veneer shades, it’s a lighting piece that reads more like sculpture. There’s something almost ethereal about it. And because each lamp is crafted by hand, no two are the same.
Also in the collection are the Nesting Tables, three interlocking surfaces that celebrate the moon’s phases with fluid, organic forms. They can be used together or apart, making them a beautiful and versatile addition to any space.
And finally, the Pebble Mirror. It might be my favorite. Irregular and fluid, its shape is reminiscent of a lagoon. Whether it’s hanging in a hallway or reflecting soft light in a bedroom, it brings a natural, artistic presence to the wall it inhabits.
The Living Moon collection is a beautiful reminder that good design doesn’t just sit still, it interacts with its environment. It reflects the light. It holds space. It honors its materials. And above all, it tells a story, one shaped by hand, guided by nature, and grounded in intention.
