Nonnavana is an architectural delight as well as a very functional family home.
The architects Felipe Gonzales in conjunction with Biombo Architecture & Interiors have created a statement house that is not afraid to stand out architecturally and also through-out the interiors and décor.
Each of the 4 en-suite bedrooms are spacious and beautifully thought out. The master bedroom upstairs has a modernist japan feel to it. The glass and iron window panels it’s such a great idea to allow light, simultaneously adding design elements but also creating an intriguing sanctuary. The asymmetrical designed back bed wall with the wood and polished concrete adds texture an industrial feel to this expansive master suite.
The beautiful concrete bathroom and square bathtub with the iron and opaque glass as a wall continue the Zen theme that we saw on the bedroom. The use of dark wood to encapsulate the niches on the wall and the rattan pendant lights add a welcome contrast to the cool interiors.
The kid’s bedroom is playful but also distinctive. The recycled multi tonal wooden floor creates a patchwork of colour and texture.
Downstairs the living room stands alone with double height ceilings and a spectacular rattan pendant light arrangement. The floor to ceiling wall is composed of hand cut and placed individual limestones creating a textured impressive 4-meter uninterrupted wall.
Another impressive feature in the living dining area is the huge tree that has been permanently planted on a large limestone structure. This living tree is a welcome juxtaposition to the cool colour palette that the living room display.
The open kitchen and dining continue the textural story of polished concrete and rattan fixtures but the tiles on the dining floor bring a casual and light-hearted look into the environment.
The huge garden with the comfortable gazebo and the large pool creates the perfect place for families to enjoy the outdoors and live the dream Bali life.
