Villa Masih Di Sini: A “Nasi Campur” Approach to Tropical Architecture

Villa Masih Di Sini

After nearly a decade in Bali, and nine different homes, Miki and her family decided to stop searching and start building! In Episode 2 of Season 10 of A Peek in Paradise, we visit the result: a relaxed family home in Seseh that feels deeply connected to both its surroundings and the way the family actually lives.

Finding the land took almost a year, but the wait paid off. Set surprisingly close to the beach, the home captures sweeping ocean views while still feeling private and grounded. Rather than follow one particular design style, the house blends different influences naturally — what Miki jokingly calls a kind of “nasi campur” approach to architecture.

From the moment you enter, the home feels open and easy. The kitchen sits at the front of the house, warm and welcoming, with textured Roman tiles and soft natural light setting the tone. Beyond it, the living and dining spaces flow directly outdoors, designed to capture cross breezes and reduce the need for air conditioning. You can watch the full home tour on YouTube here.

At the centre of the property is a sunken outdoor lounge that naturally becomes the heart of the home. It’s where the family gathers at the end of the day, surrounded by lush gardens and a curved pool that softens the lines of the architecture and helps the house feel connected to the landscape.

Inside, the spaces are calm and functional without feeling overly designed. The master suite opens toward ocean views, while soft materials and neutral tones create a sense of comfort throughout. Flexible rooms shift easily between office, guest room, and media space, allowing the home to adapt as family life changes.

What makes this house memorable is its honesty. Nothing feels forced or overly styled. Instead, it reflects years of living in Bali, understanding tropical design, and creating spaces that support everyday life — all framed by some of the best views on the island. See it all HERE!
