This is the ultimate home-makeover. Completed by Ace Studio Bali, Villa Chi is located in one of the premium neighbourhoods in Bali – Umalas.
Ace Studio has turned the original palette, which was quite dated and harsh, with lots of darker wood tones, into a stunning, minimalistic, contemporary, modern home. This new all white accent creates the perfect color pallet for the house, giving it a grand and spacious effect.
Some makeovers are simply for aesthetic purposes, while others are a massive undertaking with construction and new floor plans, but they all show what’s possible when you roll up your sleeves and reimagine your space.
Xenia has a strong point of view, so you immediately know when you have been in one of her projects. Her style is minimal, monochromatic, and paired back. She has an excellent way of creating contemporary homes that mix natural elements with classic shapes that never go out of style.
Her preference for a neutral tones really shows in this project. I love the simplicity of the design.
Monochromatic, with the juxtaposition of raw wood and the white interiors.
Xenia chose to keep elements of the original villa architecture during the restoration but also added in contemporary touches such as exposed high ceilings. She painted all the ceiling white, with a black lining to perfect the look.
The entire garden and pool area is perfect to use for entertaining and sunbathing.
The amenities include a gym, a lounge, and a private space by the pool for guests.
The main bedroom on the second floor has a balcony with the view of the pool, with a little seating area to spend some time and get cozy in the afternoon. The room also has a walk-in-closet right next to the spacious and gorgeous bathroom.
The hall on the second floor was transformed into a place where you can relax and read a book by the couch while looking at the view outside.
The second bedroom on this floor is just as beautiful. Minimalist, calming and subdue. Plus, the large glass doors looking out to the pool yard creates a calm, dreamy, and surreal-like feeling.
The dining room, located across from the living area, has cozy and minimalist vibes that are continued throughout the house.
The glamorous feel of the living area’s custom finishes exemplifies how the whole villa comes together. Xenia has focused on keeping the design minimal, but adding warmth and texture through the use of different materials with monochrome tones. The living room has a direct view to the outdoor infinity pool area, making it the grandest space of the house.
There are some lovely details which are worth mentioning: The whole villa is flooded by natural light. Marble accents are seen throughout the kitchen and bathrooms, and all the sofas look and feel like they’re made out of clouds!
Xenia’s touch is very much in every aspect of the house. Her beautiful styling, décor and colour choices is an exercise in restraint, subtle beauty and minimal interiors. For Xenia, less is always more.
