I have always dreamed of owning a big house, that was spacious, and I’m not going to lie, a bit grandiose! If we are going to dream, let’s dream big! (That should be my bumper sticker).
But once I stepped into Uma Karo, all my dreams and expectations of what sort of house I could own were completely shaken. The basis of my dream was completely shattered.
You see Uma Karo is a small house. At only 125 sqm , it is by no means of generous sizing. It only contains 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a combined kitchen living and dining. There’s also a big-enough pool and a small sunbathing space. I know, I’m not selling it, but hear me out. This house is a total pocket rocket!

Ok, first of all, let’s start with the living space. Everything is about perfection. The flooring they have chosen – I really have a big thing with flooring and hate when people don’t see the value of investing into something that simply transforms a house – well this flooring is incredible. And due to the beauty of the flooring, they decided to decorate the whole house based on the color of the terrazzo. The décor is rustic, contemporary minimalist that works so nicely. They chose to decorate with natural fabrics and materials like rattan, wicker and soft cotton cushions. The stone back wall adds an exciting element and the amazing double height ceiling fills the space with light. And if all of this wasn’t enough, the living space opens completely to the central corridor and the pool & garden. Suddenly, this small living/dining room becomes truly splendid!

The 2 bedrooms are absolutely divine. They are generous in size and they even have a wardrobe and a desk space. The color combinations are playful but also approachable and homey. They have been tastefully decorated and furnished. I love the beds and the bed lights they use. One of the bedrooms you could say is more feminine and one more masculine. I really love both of them as they use different colors on the walls and on the bedding to create their own different personalities. Both bedrooms have their own en-suites. They are simply gorgeous. The choice of tiles, flooring and the use of natural materials is impeccable.

Uma Karo has seriously blown me away. It’s a small house tucked away in Berawa, walking distance from the beach, and is so beautifully done. This one is a rare diamond. I am so glad I got the chance to see grand design in a small space. And now I am reconsidering if I need such an ambitious space to build my dream house after all.

Can I have a name of designer. Thank you
Hi Kateryna. The house was designed by the owner Caro.
The architect of this house was Ryan Gabso – ryangabso@yahoo.com, but yes, the furniture is by the owner and she also remodeled the kitchen.
Thanks Ryan!
