THE STARLING VILLA – a Canggu house with je ne sais quoi
Some places just have this “no se que” – which translates literally from Spanish as “I don’t know what”, but actually means “something special”. Or as the French would say “je ne sais quoi”.
You can’t quite put your finger on but makes you feel good: it has an aura that you can’t explain but you know it’s exceptional.
The Starling Villa has that ‘no se que’.
Could it be the fact that for a few years it was the home to a gorgeous celebrity couple and their fabulous energy stayed on? Or maybe it is the fact that the house itself is simply outstanding? I’ll let you decide for yourself.
The Startling Villa is expansive. The large garden and pool area is spacious. Three of the four bedrooms lead to the garden area and are all ensuite. The bedrooms are large and beautiful, with a laid-back style. Two of them have king beds while one has twin beds.
The living and dining area is truly breathtaking. I love the way it has been designed and decorated. The artwork chosen is unique and makes such a lasting memory. It seamlessly flows with the space. The furniture works beautifully: creating a very chic and stylish area.
One of the most beautiful features of the living & dining is how the changing light cascades so much warmth throughout the day, and completely reinvents the atmosphere of the room.
The kitchen area is also the breakfast bar and oh-my-goodness! it certainly has the wow factor! The grey cement polish for the back wall and the island bar, in combination with the black and white tiles, creates a long-lasting impactful design. One that stays with you and provides inspiration for the future!
Upstairs are the TV room and master bedroom. The TV room is certainly big enough that it could be used as another gathering point, as well as for watching TV. I could imagine teenage kids claiming that space as their own and hanging out with their friends.
The master bedroom is quite spectacular. A huge bedroom with glass walls and corner views of palm trees and the rice fields in front. The bedroom has a small office space, as well as a master ensuite bathroom as big as a studio apartment! Next to the bathroom is a large closet area to store all of your Bali shopping.
This is no cookie cutter. Starling Villa is a place you can call home when in Bali. The original artworks, the great taste in interior design, the expansiveness, but also the warmth that you can only find in a lived-in home give this villa the “no se que” we are always searching for but we rarely find.
