Suku Houses- Development

These days, it feels like nothing is easy. Global circumstances have really shifted something inside each one of us and are leading us to reassess what is important and what is not. What you want to spend your energy on and what you don’t. Perhaps more than before, we question where we want to live and which lifestyle we want to obtain.

The pandemic has changed how we think. There is no longer the idea that “one day” I will do it. The time is now. The real questions are where and how.

Luckily, there are a few people who can help to make our lives better and easier. The architecture and design studio, Design Assembly, has come to the rescue with a solution to the questions of where and how.

If you love the gorgeous beach club Ulu Cliff House, fine dining restaurant Uni or if you have seen photos of or stayed at Villa Massilia, you already know the work of Design Assembly.

This architecture studio has answered our prayers. They are developing a series of 3-bedroom villas called Suku Houses right in the heart of Canggu. Minutes away from Berawa beach, international schools and walking distance to some of our fav restaurants like Milk and Madu, and Peloton. The location couldn’t be any better.

Design Assembly is known for their modern and crisp architecture, and with suku houses, their aim is to reflect the tropical beach-town feeling of Canggu from the outside in. Choosing local craftmanship and sustainable materials wherever possible, Suku Houses will feature a local limestone and recycled teakwood façade, handmade tiles and natural stone finishes. As they always aim to be responsible when selecting materials and building techniques, they are using sustainable Greensense concrete and local materials for this project.

The houses will have open, airy spaces with floor to ceiling sliding doors and windows, along with a central louvered skylight to create even more natural light in both levels. This will create cross-ventilation, helping keep the home cool and reducing the need for electricity during the day.

Downstairs you will find the open living, dining and kitchen that lead to the pool and garden. On the ground floor, there is one en-suite bedroom plus a guest toilet. Upstairs are the two other en-suite bedrooms with a mezzanine and open office space.

The home will also have space for a carport and of course room for scooters. All the furniture, white goods and even décor are included when you purchase a long-term lease. You literally only need to bring your suitcase and that is it, you have a home!

Each house plot is 200 m2 and the building is 180 m2. This development is off-plan and has a lease term of 25 years with the possibility of a 15 year extension.
