Solea: A Mediterranean Sanctuary of Minimalist Elegance in Nusa Penida

At the top of the quiet hills of Kutampi Kaler in Nusa Penida is Solea, a visionary retreat that exudes Mediterranean charm. Construction began at the end of 2025. I think this property will redefine luxury living on Nusa Penida, with its blend of open-design, awe-inspiring scenery of Mount Agung, and a touch of whimsical architectural surprises. Solea is for those who seek harmony between indulgence and nature. 

This Solea project is being developed by Savian Group, with its design balancing bold Mediterranean aesthetics and the simplicity of modern minimalism. Arched doorways, whitewashed walls, and terracotta accents pay homage to the sun-drenched villas of the Mediterranean coast. In their plan, you can see the clean lines, expansive glass panels, and an open layout that ensure a timeless, airy ambiance. I spoke with Paul Hattabe, who is part of the team behind the project, and he explained that the design frames the natural beauty of Nusa Penida, by creating a dialogue between indoor refinement and the untamed outdoors.

At the heart of Solea project, lies a commitment to unobstructed living and fluidity. Walls dissolve into broad terraces, and spaces spill into gardens, the design encourages a transition between relaxation and exploration. I particularly adore the minimalist interiors, adorned with neutral tones, organic texture, and curated artisanal decor! This design invokes a wonderful peaceful feeling.

I also noticed that behind the design, Solea conceals playful surprises that elevates it from a mere villa. I love the hidden ladder access that is discreetly integrated into the bathrooms and the private rooftops. And, of course, every corner of Solea pays homage to its crowning jewel—an interrupted vista of Mount Agung.

Since Solea is located in the quiet villa of Kutampi Kaler, this project offers a break from the bustle of Bali’s busier hubs. The rhythm of life slows to the murmur of waves and rustle of palm fronds. Yet, I think the adventure lies moments away—Nusa Penida’s iconic beaches, sacred temples, and snorkelling spots are all within reach. It’s a perfect base for both solitude and exploration!
