  • Commission a mural / painting

With many local and ex-pat artists living on the island, there is no better place to commission an original artwork. A few of our favourite artists you could hit are Irene Hoff, Beastman, Andrew Wellman, Quint & Tuyu Love Me. Check out All Caps Store and Gallery in Canggu for more artists.

Homewares (you knew this was going to be our biggest list)

  • Slab Interiors

Slab Interiors is a unique designer and builder of concrete pottery. These stylish painted concrete pots make a great and unique gift that adds a splash of color to one’s home.

  • Kim Soo

Everyone loves a cushion cover, right? And there is no better place to buy one than Kim Soo. We love the Monochrome cushions from Kim Soo and they will fit right into anybody’s home.

  •  The Jungle Trader

One of my favorite gifts from Bali and something I use daily is coconut shell bowls. Handcrafted, lightweight, bio-degradable, sustainable, and compostable. You can also match the bowl with a reusable coconut spoon. This item is an absolute favorite.

  •  Cisco and The Sun

Cisco and the Sun Ceramics are made entirely by hand by local artisans in Bali and sold at The Slow in Canggu.

  •  Quince

Not just a great cafe! Quince sells a range of artisanal goods. I love the little napkin sets they sell made from Batik prints – such a great gift from Bali that appreciates the technique and skill of this local craft.

Giving Back

There are many organizations in Indonesia giving back to this beautiful island. Donating to charity as a way of giving a gift is my number one favorite gift!

There are many charitable groups in Bali working to help disadvantaged women and/or children, protecting wildlife and preserving habitats, as well as rehabilitating stray animals. Here is a shortlist of the many great organizations doing wonderful things in Bali.

Bali Mother and Baby House – Providing education to women and teens around sex education and temporary housing for newborn abandoned babies

Project Karma – Disaster relief projects, including communities affected by earthquakes

Bye Bye Plastic Bags – A young generation tackling the plastic bag issue

Eco Bali – Recycling and Education around recycling
